Buildings are frequently tasked with establishing correspondence between opposing goals: interior/exterior, temporary/permanent, fixed/flexible, singular/democratic.
The idea of the project is to design a flexible and iconic movie studio shed within the city of Boston. Essentially, the project comprised three major structural rings that rotated and acted as a bridge, structural supports, and space-defining-object within the project. The bridge could be utilized both for connection between spaces and also communal spaces for a public attraction at the same time. This concept allows both controlled private and public areas within the project.
This project envisions a novel multi-purpose movie shed that allows seamless public and private interaction at the same time.
On the plan, sound stages are generated through the division of the structural grids from the roof plan. These grids divide the programs into mainly three separate sound stages and two supporting buildings for the acting, casting, and administration offices.
Sectionally, the project is separated into three layers which are the rooftop for the public area, the ground floor for the trucks, and pedestrians. And lastly, the two layers of bridges serve as the connection between the public and private in the middle. Simultaneously, both the public spaces can be utilized into private movie production studios, allowing expansion and new possible locations for the movie production.
